Please note: socializing dogs, especially young dogs, is critical to their development. Puppies need to have positive experiences with new people, places, sounds, dogs on a WEEKLY basis to ensure they do not grow into insecure, fearful or even aggressive adult dogs. Please consider this when adopting during this pandemic. Socialization is currently more difficult, but it isn't any less important, so please be sure you can fulfill this need in a new dog before committing to adopt.

Indie (sister to Disco and Hip-Hop) is a fun loving, adventurous, chihuahua puppy who came to us back in July (2021) at five weeks old. Her and her siblings were taken away from their mother prematurely, placed in a kennel without access to food or water, and then dumped outside of a shopping plaza in the worst of the summer heat. Fortunately, a kind onlooker stepped in, scooped them up and networked them to our rescue. These puppies couldn’t eat hard food and wouldn’t lap gruel when they first arrived, a clear indication that they hadn’t even begun the weaning process. Not to mention, they were filthy and covered in fleas. After just a few weeks in a good foster home, these chihuahuas were brought up to speed and had made a complete turn-around in condition. They were clean, parasite, and flea free. They were also hearty eaters, fully transitioned to kibble. Their story shows that sometimes all these dogs need is a little TLC. Now, they are ready for homes and have been waiting for them for quite some time (August). Indie is funky and spunky! She loves other dogs and must go to a home with a playful four-legged companion. Since she is still young and learning, potential adopters should be prepared for an energetic, imperfect new addition to their home. She is not for someone looking to adopt a “calm” dog, or a dog that is “already trained”. In foster care, Indie is perfecting potty training, kennel training, and other basic boundaries. She is a work in progress, and we are looking for someone to take over the work we’ve already started with her. She needs a patient, confident leader who can show her the right way to “dog”.

If you are interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application. We will only be able to email those applicants that are approved to schedule a meet and greet. Thank you in advance for your understanding if you don't hear back from us regarding your application.
