Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat) : : Male (neutered)
Hamilton found himself on the 'new hope only' list at the shelter because they deemed him to be fearful. New hope only means that only approved rescue partners could pull him from the shelter; he was not adoptable. We saw his sweet face on social media and immediately made plans to go meet him and judge for ourselves.
Hamilton was brought to a meet and greet yard, walked directly up to us and crawled in his new foster dad's lap. He greeted our two tester dogs with fleeting curiosity, much preferring to get attention from the humans. Hamilton was a bit timid, but his desire for affection far outweighed any fear, and we found him to be highly adoptable.
Hamilton has settled nicely into his foster home. He's recovered from kennel cough, gained a few pounds and is a happy boy. He's good with the dogs in his foster home, ranging from a 5 pound chihuahua to a 120 pound dane mix. He plays with the 2 medium sized girls very well, and has proven to be soft and submissive with them. Though he gets along with the male dogs in his foster home, as well, we will not place Hamilton in a forever home with another power breed male.
A note from foster dad:
My name is Hammingxander Hamilton
And there’s a million good forever homes,
But just you wait, just you wait!
People all over the world are talking about the debut of Hamilton, so decided it was a good day to debut our own Hamilton. Two-year-old Hamilton is a cross-eyed blue pittie with a heart of gold. If you are thinking about adopting him, you have to understand that he will want to be on you all of the time. He’s basically made of Velcro, so if you like 50 lbs of snuggle snores on you at all times, he is your guy. He loves people, is good with dogs of all sizes, and is learning to respect cats.
Be aware that Hamilton will most likely not be adoptable to someone in an apartment (or any rental) due to common breed restrictions. If you want to apply to meet Hamilton, he’s waiting in the wings for you to complete an application!
