Gretchen was dropped in the night drop box at the Riverside shelter in California. The wildfires were causing extreme overcrowding at Riverside, which leads to high rates of euthanasia. For this reason, a group of rescues in AZ agreed to take a dog from this shelter to help make space for those dogs displaced by the wildfires. In this way, Gretchen made her way to Paw Placement, and she is now in a loving foster home.

Gretchen is an extremely affectionate and cuddly little girl. Her favorite spot is currently on her foster's lap. Gretchen is good with dogs and cats of all sizes. She is crate trained and we are still figuring out if she is fully house trained. Gretchen is sweet, eager to please and seems to love every human she meets.

Gretchen is, according to our groomer, a maltipoo, which means she'll require grooming every 6 weeks or so. She didn't love being groomed, which lead our groomer to believe she may have been hand trimmed by her owner previously, never having visited a formal grooming salon. Her new owners will need to find the right groomer for Gretchen, one who can be firm but patient with our girl.

Gretchen will be ready for adoption later in August. We are now accepting pre-adoption applications.
