Poodle Mix

I first saw Rudy near a grade school in a poorer area of downtown Phoenix. I saw this little kid carrying around this dog. The dog was as big as the kid and I was worried that the dog would get hurt the way the kid was holding him. I wanted to go over there and say...what are you doing to this poor dog...the way you are holding and carrying him could hurt......but I didn't. By this time a large amount of kids had formed around the dog and they started to leave. I walked over to them and asked if this was their dog. Yes..they replied. I looked at the dog and noticed that the "collar" was a piece of a rope tied around it's neck and no leash. I told the kids about how to treat, walk and be kind to animals. I gave their dog a new collar and leash that I had in the back of my truck. I talked to the kids about being responsible pet owners. The kids asked alot of questions and I answered calmly and patieintly. Before they all left, I handed my card to the kids, put a Paw Placement ID tag on their dogs collar and told them that this way if their dog ever ran away again that I would get called and know who the dog belonged to. That night I received a call saying that someone needed to surrender a dog...mmm...similiar place to where I was earlier that day. I show up at the address and there was the dog I had given a new collar and leash to. The father and son...with tears in his eyes...told me that he had thought about what I had said....he wanted a better life for Rudy. Could you be that home?
