***MAY 15, 2011 UPDATE FROM FOSTER MOM***, Nico is an Aussie Shepard mix and is white with brindle spots he weighs around 55 lbs. He is a sweet spotted dog. He loves his people, he needs to know what they are up to and wants to hang out wherever they are. He is a big jovial puppy. He isn't always perfectly coordinated and sometimes looks as if he's lost control of his lanky legs and paws. He has the sweetest, softest ears that flop forward just like a puppy when you ask him a question, then he gives you the head tilt, and your heart melts. He is a big baby. He is perfectly potty-trained and has never had any kind of an accident indoors. He does get bored and needs plenty of his own chew toys around the house; as long as he has his own things to chew on he should be just fine. Nico is not crate trained and doesn't do well in the crate at all. He stays in our tiled family room when we are gone during the day and has full run of the house when we are home. , He likes most all other dogs and loves to play, the rougher the better, though he is not a bully and won't play rough if the other dog doesn't condone it. He is VERY interested in cats and since he has never lived with one or been left alone with one, a cat test would be in order if his forever home has kitties. Nico is fine hanging out in the house but does need walks and playing in the yard to exert some of his energy. He knows sit and shake, and is working on fetch (he gets it some of the time). He gets VERY excited when visitors come to the house, or when he sees other dogs on his walks, he is like a giddy child. , Nico is from the pound, he was slated for euthanasia for being too fearful. While in the normal course of our lives with Nico, we don't see any signs of fear at all; quite the contrary he is outgoing and silly. He doesn't like water, but we are working on it every time he gets a bath. He also fears some objects that he doesn't understand, like the laundry bag and the master bed, though he has no problem climbing up on the (lower) guest bed and taking a nap when no one is looking. He is just like a child who?s afraid of Santa in these moments he just trembles and looks to you for security. He is a silly, sweet, VERY LOVING, dog. I have never seen him be aggressive, though he does bark appropriately if someone comes into the yard. , Nico wants to be a part of the family and he deserves to be. He is an adorable dog with a huge heart that longs for a forever home, his foster mom and dad will miss him very much, he is a GREAT dog!!
