Kelpie Mix

Sierra is a female Australian Kelpie. Kelpies are known for their loyalty, intelligence, and their herding instinct. Not only is this dog particularly obedient, affectionate, and mild-natured, but she is an EXTREMELY RARE non-barker. It?s not to say that she can?t bark ? she simply chooses not to. As they say, silence is golden. Even when a person comes to door, you can be assured that this sweet dog will not disturb you., ***Update from foster dad (April 2011)***, You WILL fall in love with this dog as soon as she gets to know you. As a foster who has cared for Sierra for over six months, I can honestly say that this is the sweetest, most loving dog that I have ever fostered. She comes immediately when called, understands many commands, is VERY responsive to correction (one snap is all she needs) and is as loyal as any dog can be. As sensitive as this dog is, it is quite easy to OVERCORRECT and damage her self-esteem. Did I say she was a NON-barker? Heaven!, This dog would be an ideal companion for any adopter ? however, she would not do well in a home where she is left alone all day without the companionship of people or other dogs., Out of all six dogs I have fostered and recuperated over the last two years, Sierra is by far the most affectionate and trouble-free animal that I have had in my home. Sierra loves the company of other dogs, but is timid around dominant, larger dogs. Sierra comes FULLY leash trained and house-broken (of course) and LOVES long walks. The dog park is her personal favorite past-time., Sierra is a great little dog!
