Romeo was initially rescued by our team about 12 years ago, as a young dog living in total neglect. Then, a decade or so after his recovery and adoption, he found himself as a stray senior for reasons that are still unknown. Miraculously, he managed to survive that way for at least a month, until he was finally trapped and brought to MCACC. There, his microchip reconnected him to our rescue once all efforts to reach his adopted family were exhausted.

We don’t understand why his life turned out this way, but we are here for him now just as much as we were all those years ago. Since rejoining our foster care program, Romeo has been doing incredibly well, and not just for his age! Upon his intake several months ago, it was determined by veterinary evaluation that Romeo needed to lose some weight and be placed on a couple joint/arthritis medications to help manage any discomfort he might be having as an older dog.

Now, having spent much time recuperating, Romeo is a much happier and healthier dog than when we first got him back. He doesn’t let his old age get in the way of anything anymore! He still loves to explore, and enjoys a good sniff session around his yard. Even though he is losing his hearing, he never turns down a good cuddle or scratchies when summoned by his humans. His overall personality is incredibly mellow and laidback, with a little hint of spunk from time to time! Ideally, Romeo would go to a home that’s on the calmer end of the spectrum, however, his “go with the flow” attitude would probably make him a great addition to anyone’s family!

Romeo is house and crate trained in his foster home. He hasn't met a human or animal he finds disagreeable, he's easy going with everyone and everything. Romeo's happy place is a comfy dog bed, nutritious food, a small yard and some daily cuddles!
