Barney was found on the lawns of the Biltmore Hotel. He sat close to the trunk of a tree at midday, trying to get whatever shade from the sun he could. A kind woman noticed him. He was so small. She went over to him, but he backed away. The next day, the woman saw the little kitten, on his own and frightened, camped out at the same tree. She brought him some food and water. He ran eagerly to the sustenance. The woman reached out and petted him. He was wary, but wasn't going to leave his vittles - he let her pet him. The next day, she went to him with a little house. Inside was food. Little Barney ran right into the carrier. He did not know that the kind woman was leaving the hotel that day, and had spent the morning on the phone with rescue groups trying to find a safe place for one little black kitten. We are elated to have little Barney in our care. We are looking for a very special home - one where he will be loved and well-fed and play happily for the rest of his life. Barney is initially a little hesitant around people he doesn't know - but once he sees where the grub is coming from, he is your best friend. He likes to snuggle and will make someone very very happy! |
