August 08 - Foster update:, Sara, or Sara Bella as she?s known in our house, continues to bring a great deal of joy and laughter to us with her playful antics. We are remodeling and she is right there to help you figure things out! Sara came to us with terrible separation anxiety issues. Even though she hates us to leave, she now settles right down once we go. She is housebroken and loves going in and out the doggy door to play with the other dogs in the back yard. She loves her toys, especially balls, and has never chewed anything that might be left laying around the house. We don?t feed our dogs people food, so she has learned not to beg at the table or when we might have a snack on the couch., She would prefer to jump over something then walk around it, so we would love to see her get some agility training. While we can block off our other dogs with a doggy gate, Sara thinks the gate is a game and will jump back and forth over it. She loves to swim. She barks appropriately when someone knocks on the door, and occasionally when we get her wound up playing. She loves treats, and ice cubes. She loves to ride in the car and is a great rider, sometimes falling asleep before we?re at the end of our road. She sleeps through the night by my husband?s side of the bed, and waits patiently for you to wake up in the morning. She is becoming more loving every day, and looks forward to gentle rubs on her back legs, as well as the standard belly rub., Sara is very smart, and wants nothing more than to please you, and of course play some ball. The one issue we are still working through is she gets over excited when someone comes to the house, and she jumps on people. We are working with a trainer on this, but we just haven?t had consistent time to work this through. We would love to keep Sara, but it just wouldn?t be fair to her. We own a business and we?re away from home extensively. Sara needs regular exercise to thrive, and we just are not active people. Our wish for Sara Bella is an active person/family who enjoys the outdoors, and wants a dog that truly is a best friend. , June 08 update - We have a winner! Looking for a dog to win ribbons with? Sara took 1st place in the fastest dog contest & 2nd place in ball catching on a recent Sat at "A Day for Paws" at Ft. Tuthill in Flagstaff. , Curious, bright-eyed Sara doesn't miss a beat! She notices everything that is going on around her, & with her playful, friendly disposition, she is sure to be part of the action! She has been receiving some basic obedience training & is now totally housebroken. She would do well in a home where there is another happy dog or very playful, active owner. She is affectionate towards kids (towards everyone, really), but due to her liveliness, should not be in a home with young cats or kids under the age of 7. She walks very well with a gentle leader and knows how to sit & shake. She is so cheerful and good-natured, and during an afternoon visit to PetCo, her tail wagged nonstop and her expectant face happily watched every person walk through the door. Right now she is just waiting for the right person to come along who can spend the time to continue her training and enjoy petting her gorgeous, soft coat. She is sure to reward them with her big brown eyes full of love and lots of kisses for the rest of her life! Sara is crate trained.
