Sir Charles history & bio:, A staff member recommended Sir Charles for selection on 1/10 at Coconino Humane (CHA). He was found as a stray & had been there over a month. I assessed him at CHA (using Best Friends assessment). As part of the assessment we introduced him to 2 different dogs. The first a male hound who almost immediately growled at him but Sir Charles did not react (he was stiff but showed no aggression). With the second dog (also a male I think) he did not react negatively (the other dogs hackles were up but nothing more. He didn't spend any time loose with these dogs. , We cat tested him inside & outside & he didn't care about the cat. , Because Sir Charles was not looking his best (like he'd never been groomed) I took him to a groomer & she improved that situation by 100 percent. She said she didn't have to use a muzzle just talked to him the whole time. The night before I had tried to cut & brush him some & got some growls near the hindquarters. , I named him Sir Charles because he prances when he walks & looks like royalty. He walks on a leash like a dream. He was picked up as a stray but had been neutered so obviously someone cared about him at some point in his life. He crates very well & doesn't try to bolt out the front door (car door, etc) but caution because if he does get away from you he doesn't come when called (don't ask me how I know). , He rode in the front seat of my car like a perfect gentleman all the way from Flagstaff to Tempe & then over to Phoenix. , He loved the double cheeseburger I bought him in Cordes Junction & made it disappear in less than 5 seconds. , He is a very patient dog, doesn't bark often & seems serious until you pull out a leash & then suddenly he's a sweet young boy excited about going somewhere. He played with a toy a little but we only tried this once or twice when the other dogs weren't present. There are toys all over the backyard but Kiska doesn't care about them so no issues there. Inside the house is a different story. , I think he might do well with a submissive female who lets him be alpha & who isn't too young & hyper. The ultimate home would be one where he could be the only dog & have cats for housemates. , He loves to be outside & fights going into new buildings (vet, groomers, chris-town).
