Unknown breed / mixed (short coat) : : Female : : Senior : : Large Bernese Hound
Hannah is a very sweet, loving Bernese Hound puppy. She is one of the puppies born in a litter within the rescue on May 17th. Her mother is Georgia, who is also featured on this website and is in need of a home., Hannah is definitely all puppy and functions on two speeds: very high and very low. She can go from 0 to 60 in a matter of seconds, and vice versa. She loves to lounge around during the day, sleeping either on or under (which she won?t fit much longer!!) the couch. Other times, she loves to run full speed around the house, her favorite stuffed lobster in her mouth, slipping and sliding on the tile and running into things. She is EXTREMELY active in the morning when she first wakes up, so she is not a puppy for someone who just wants to lay around and read the paper in the mornings. She is working on basic training as of now. She does know sit, but has selective hearing and only wants to sit if you have food in your hand. We are working on this. She can sleep through the night, but needs to be contained (she sleeps in a playpen right now) as she will get up in the night and get into mischief if she is not. She is close to being completely housetrained, but reverts back when she?s in an unfamiliar place, so time and patience will be required as she adjusts to new surroundings. She is currently (as of September 3rd 2006) about 22 pounds, and will grow up to be a big girl, probably 45-50 lbs., Hannah is a puppy who LOVES being around her people. Therefore she is not a dog that can be left alone for long periods of time and be happy. She also cannot be crated for more than a few hours at a time in her crate just yet, as her bladder isn?t fully developed yet and she will have an accident. She is not a dog for someone who works all day. She would love to have someone who gives her kisses a million times a day and take her for daily runs. She is a snuggle bug and loves affection as well as adventures outside the house., Hannah would probably do okay in a home with cats. The last time she was introduced to one she was about 9 weeks old and was a little afraid of it. Now that she?s bigger, she may be more curious. She does do well with other dogs for the most part, but gets tired of playing after awhile and will get a little cranky. I think she?s just very young and gets overwhelmed easily. She does best with big dogs., She loves children, but due to her energy level and the fact that she still nips and chews a lot I think she would do best in a home with kids over 7. She is very playful and could easily hurt a small child with her running and jumping, and her puppy teeth are very sharp., Hannah is a very sweet puppy and whoever adopts her will be very lucky to have her. Please remember that Hannah is a 15+ year commitment and must be considered part of the family no matter what the circumstances (marriage, moving, life changes, etc). She is not disposable. Having a puppy is a very big commitment so please make sure your family is ready for that.
