Domestic Short Hair (short coat) : : Female : : Senior Russian Blue
Gertie and her babies, Yoda, Cali, and Bailey, came to Paw Placement from Apache Junction's Animal Care & Control. Mama and kittens were scheduled to be euthanized simply because this facility does not have the space or the resources to care for so many animals. If all animal guardians would spay or neuter their pets, euthanasia at public shelters would almost disappear overnight. Fortunately, Paw Placement was able to rescue this little family with the help of Sandi, one of our wonderful fosters. Paw Placement could not save lives without these dedicated volunteers, who give incredible amounts of love and time to the animals who need them. Here's what Sandi has to say about Gertie, Paw Placement's resident beauty queen: "Gertie has a striking steel-grey coat and gold eyes (she is beautiful!). She does have claws, but I taught her to only use the scratching post, and she learned it easily! She is not allowed on the counters or tables in my home, and abides by that rule for the most part. Every now and then I have to tell her to get down, but it only takes a hand motion for her to listen. Very smart and lovable! Not a lap cat but loves attention and wouldn't turn it down for anything. She eats only dry food and was litterbox trained from day one. However, Gertie is sad that her babies are no longer around to entertain her! She is quite playful, so lots of toys are an order for her. Gertie has adapted very well to the indoor life from her former street life! She needs a loving home with lots of attention and preferrably no dogs or very young children (under age 10). She wouldn't hurt them, but she's accustomed to quieter surroundings." If you have room in your heart and home for a sweet, beautiful little lady, please check out Gertie. Mama cats like her need homes, too!
