Cumin, Thyme, Basil, and Sage are Paw Placement's "Bucket Kittens." What does this mean? It means that the owner of the kittens' mother, Pepper, did not spay her. He let her outside and was dismayed when she got pregnant. Some people have no common sense. So when Pepper gave birth, the man decided he did not want the kittens. He took her newborn litter of five and put them in a bucket in the sun, where they would have slowly dehydrated and died. Pepper was frantic to get back to her kittens, and a neighbor reported the incident to us. We promptly gathered the kittens and asked to take Pepper. The man didn't care if we took her - he was moving soon and planned to leave her behind anyway. Sadly, one kitten died because of this man's actions - or perhaps his lack of action. We are glad that Pepper's four other babies have flourished and now are in need of good homes. The whole litter, including Pepper, are all black or mostly black kitties. For some reason, many people don't want to adopt black cats - we don't know why. These particular cats are loving, beautiful and ever so smart. If you are looking for a feline friend to brighten your life, please consider taking home one of our "Bucket Kittens." After all they've been through, they deserve the best!
