WOW - what a story on this boy! We received word about a dog who had to live outside on a chain. We were told that the dog was an inconvenience to his "family" and that he was going to be shot. Our volunteer checked on this boy, and she saw a sad dog. The people released the dog to us, and the chain he lived on was so rusted - it was clear that Troy had been outside for a very long time. As soon as he came into our care, Troy was frolicking around like a puppy should - but this is a BIG puppy! We are guessing that he is a Mastiff/Lab mix. He is good with people and friendly dogs. He would do best with older children due to his size and activity level. Troy loves to run and play, and wants a family who will promise that he will never ever (!) be chained up again., UPDATE FROM FOSTER: I wanted to let you know how the weekend went with Troy. I don't have anything bad to say, he's great. After he calmed down and got to know my dog he became the perfect house guest, he didn't touch a thing inside or out except what he was given to play with. He's house trained and uses a dog door. At night he slept on a dog bed all night without a peep. He doesn't bark even when someone comes to the door, the only time I've heard him bark is at Petsmart. He would do very well with another playful female (he loves Sheba the Shepard) and loves to chase the ball, I'm not sure he's good with males (he's still young). He doesn't show any signs of being abused, he loves everyone he meets and gives lots of kisses. We would love to keep him or at least foster him and would if we didn't have an older dog with bad hips and a play time of about five minutes. What more can I say, he will make someone a wonderful friend and I hope it's soon. If he ever needs to be transported anywhere let me know and I would love to keep taking him to Petsmart as often as I can., The weekend was short but I believe it was long enough to see what a wonderful dog Troy can be, he's completely different in a home than he is at Petsmart, my husband loves him and he can be picky when it comes to how a dog should behave. , another update from foster, I wanted to give you an update on Troy and send new photos. Troy has been a pleasure to foster, he has very good house manners inside and out, everything is still in it's place when I get home. He uses a doggy door, he prefers to sleep on the dog bed, at the foot of the bed or anywhere you tell him to. I've only heard him bark a few times one time was when my neighbor was looking over the block wall to get a peek at Troy, another was on 4th of July when a strange neighbor shot off MORE than a firecracker. He will follow you from room to room to see what you're doing and to make sure you're safe. He loves to play with my dog Lily and when she gets tired I'll throw him the ball or give him a chew toy. He's not food aggresive and does not show signs of being abused. He loves people and gives plenty of kisses but he will also jump on you when he first meets you (meet and greet) which we are working on. He's not great on a leash (in a hurry to see the world) but gets better each day, however he does know the basic commands. I can certainly see the Lab in Troy but I'm not sure what he's mixed with, I do know he's handsome and will make someone a wonderful forever best friend. More about TroyGood with Dogs, Good with Kids
