Lab/Border Collie Mix

Meet Velvet- named after her smooth shiny coat! She is a one year old Labrador Retreiver/Border Collie mix who is just as sweet as can be. She is great with people and children. She is an can be a little alpha'ish so she be best in a home with friendly dogs or with puppies. Velvet is currently in a home with a older male and younger female....and they play play play. She is a smart girl and is learning how to sit shake. She is so sweet and so happy to be free from the pound and will cuddle when you want to cuddle and play when you want to play. Violet can be calm and sweet and then can be very much a puppy that will jump all over you....but she is learning quickly what structure is. Velvet is also crate-trained. , Update 7/3/05:, Note from foster mom: Velvet is a true little lovebug. She is 100% housebroken with a doggie door and appears to love all other dogs. She loves to play and has learned to respect her other four legged friends and will roll on her back when they tell her they are done playing! She loves the dog park and seems fine with all dogs...She loves to run and play chase and is one of the fastest dogs! She is fine with cats ..inquisitive but oh so respectful of a hiss and she has been seen quickly retreating when a paw is raised. She loves children and is very gentle (remember though she is still young and needs to be reminded to sit and not jump)! She is learning to walk nicely on a leash. She loves her crate and goes right to sleep at night. She has been left uncrated for short periods and has not bothered anything. Velvet would do great with other playful dogs or as an only dog IF her family would be around a lot and have time to spend with her. Velvet loves to be with you when you are home but will also happily sleep when you are out (another dog would be great to keep her company during the day if you are gone)!
