About Hope - In Defense of Animals

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Rescue ID: 725
Hope is about 2 years old and is a great dog. She has an interesting history and is now a healthy, happy, lovely girl just waiting for that right person to find her. , Hope is currently in foster with three other dogs (big and small/old and young/playful and grouchy!) and loves them all. She is also fine with two mature indoor dog savvy cats! Hope is an ideal dog to walk as she has very nice leash manners (my 75+ year old parents walk her with ease!). She is perfectly dog door trained and would need a dog door as she does not know how to ask to go out and gets worried if she cannot get out. Hope absolutely loves all people including young children....having her belly rubbed is her very favorite. She loves to go for car rides and a good game of tug-of-war with a rope are the second favorites! Hope does not get on furniture except for the bed where she snuggles down for the night with everyone else. , Hope is just a big soft fluffy lovely dog. She does have definite likes and dislikes of other dogs...she has been terrific with my three and with three other fosters who have temporarily shared our home, if you have another dog who lives with you it would be imperative that they meet. She would not like to live with a big big dog as they scare her! She doesn't get bothered by other dogs when out for a walk., She is an alert dog and will let you know if someone is at the door or gate. It has been my experience that she does not bark unless there is a reason to and will quiet quickly when asked! She does get warm with her fur so would need to be in lovely air-conditioning in the summer...she loves this end of January weather! , The other great thing about Hope is her very distinctive tail! I think it may have been burned or something as it is about 8 inches long and the last 2 inches are a lovely shiny pink! This causes no troubles for Hope and once people meet her they just do not forget her, "Hey I remember that tail!", will often be heard. Hope looks like she has a mask around her eyes but that is only because her face had to be shaved in late Nov for surgery. Her surgery permanently fixed a problem with irritating eyelashes. She is all healed from that and is patiently waiting for her hair to finish growing in! Hope is currently taking thyroid medication and her dosage is being reduced. This is a very inexpensive med and her vet feels this may not be a lifelong med need for Hope. , Hope would be a great dog for a family with children or for one where people had time to spend with her. Her fur is so soft and she adores it when people fuss over her!
