Unknown breed / mixed (long coat) : : Male : : Senior : : Small Cairn Terrier/Shih Tzu
A Paw Placement volunteer saw a woman strolling around Home Depot with two of the cutest puppies in the world in her shopping cart. Being an animal-person, the volunteer stopped to admire the precious pups. The woman told the volunteer that she is a "breeder" of Shih Tzu's. Her daughter has an unneutered Cairn Terrier who mated with her Shih Tzu and so they had a litter by accident. The woman was trying to give away these pups to whoever would take them. When noone showed interest in the dogs, she decided to leave them at Home Depot. Good thing the Paw Placement volunteer was on the scene. Now Elf and Nicholas are with Paw Placement. It is unfortunate that rescue groups must take responsibility for other people's carelessness, especially when it comes to backyard breeders and those who won't spay/neuter their pets. There are so many pure bred animals in the county pounds because people want to make money off of puppies and breed irresponsibly. These breeders account for a large portion of the euthanasia numbers in the valley. Please spread the word -- before "buying" a puppy through the paper please consult rescue groups dedicated to a particular breed of dog to understand what questions to ask. If Paw Placement had not been at the right place at the right time, little Elf and Nicholas would either be at the pound or worse. Both puppies are sweet as can be -- they will need to go t a home where all humans are over the age of twelve. Not surprisingly, these doggies are just now learning how to play and wag their tails. You can tell that noone has loved on them in their short lives. At this point in time, we would like to see the two pups find a forever home together since they are so bonded.
