Atticus was found wondering the streets on July 25. The good samaritins that found him posted ?found? signs, with no response. Because the caring pet people were watching another dog (4 total with Atticus), they took him to the east side shelter hoping he would be found or adopted. Sadly, they received a call from Animal Control that they would be putting him down due to lack of space, so we went and picked him back up. He has all of his shots, microchip and is licensed. They also took him to their vet and he is in good health. He has no worms and passed his heartworm test. He is also currently on heartworm preventative. , Atticus is incredibly sweet and gets along with all people that he has met. He doesn?t even mind a bath or nail trimmings. He has quite the appetite and is always excited to eat. He is currently being fostered in their home with two large male dogs and gets along with them well. He has also met other dogs out on walks or at local pet stores and he has been very friendly. Atticus is very submissive to people (he greets you by rolling on his back and loves to give you his paw). He is crated while his fosters are away, for which he cries a little, but quickly calms down. Otherwise, he is not a barker. He is also good in the car. He is energetic and would do best with a family that will take him for walks and play with him everyday. The fosters are also working on obedience training, he doesn?t seem to have a background of commands, but he is truly a smart dog. He learns VERY quickly, and because he is so treat motivated, he seems happy to learn. He figured out the doggy door we have in about 1 minute. The fosters don?t think he knew what toys were before and since he has been showing him what is acceptable, he hasn?t gotten anything else.
