Domestic Short Hair (short coat) : : Female : : Senior Black
I went to Animal Care & Control during my lunch period in order to help a new dog foster find a pup. While in the receiving area I turned around and found 3 banks of cages with baby kittens. Knowing that it is kitten season and knowing how many cats and kittens will be put down due to a lack of space, I began to ask about the babies. All of the babies had fosters, expect Gabby and Battie. Battie and Gabby probably would never find a foster or a new home, instead would find themselves faced infront of the inevitable needle. Gabby and Battie were not exactly socialized and would hiss and growl at everyone. I pulled Gabby out and held her to my chest and she quickly calmed down. I then petted Battie gently under the chin and she began to close her eyes. Not once did they try to bite or scratch me. I knew this was going to be big project trying to socialize the babies, but a project that would be well worth every effort. Battie is now doing well but still hissy. She loves to play with all of the other kittens. She will not be allowed to go to a home with young children and should only go to a home with someone who is experienced with cats and understands that Battie will need to time to adjust to her new home.
